Sonia Rykiel née Flis is a French fashion designer. Ethnically a Polish Jew, Sonia Rykiel was born in Paris, France in 1930. At the age of 17, she was employed to dress the window displays in a Parisian textile store. In 1953 Sonia married Sam Rykiel, owner of a boutique selling elegant clothing. In 1962 she just couldn't find any soft sweaters to wear when she was pregnant. So she used a supplier to her husband from Venice to design her own.

Sonia Rykiel has launched various perfumes in her fragrance line. The earliest editions originate from 1993 and the newest ones from 2008. Rykiel Man perfume by Sonia Rykiel is a fragrance for men. Rykiel Man was launched in 2004. This fragrance features sandalwood, musk, green leaves, pepper, vanilla, grapefruit, vetiver, bergamot and cardamom. There is a light Anisic-like note from the Toscanol that seems to stretch right down to the base and join the Musk, it's a very aromatic Muskiness. It is very sexy, but in a subtle way.

Le Parfum perfume by Sonia Rykiel is a oriental fragrance for women. This is a strong, old-fashioned, complex scent that starts out as a blast of floral and fruit aldehydes. It’s really what u called perfume... it is very good for romantic evening as it is strong but not loud. It smells like an older woman’s fragrance for the first twenty minutes.
